Dear Glenesa,
Spearhead has not received an invitation to discuss an equitable adjustment to its contract for its work on the pedestrian bridge B at LaGuardia Airport.
Spearhead is an excellent contractor, Glenesa, but now stands at the threshold of closure after performing its work at LaGuardia.
For 8 months , Spearhead left phone messages, sent texts, wrote emails and sent formal letters requesting a 45 min meeting with Skanska's principles to discuss an Equitable Adjustment to its contract. In 8 months , Spearhead has yet to even receive acknowledgement of any correspondence.
For 8 months , Spearhead has been left to somehow cover $2M in job costs, excluding any overhead and profit it expected to earn working with Skanska on a PANYNJ project.
This week, Engineering News Record (ENR) included Spearhead, Skanska and PANYNJ representatives in its article about the, “LaGuardia Modernization.”
Skanska’s VP Thomas Nilsson was quick to extol the benefits of the “450-foot-long steel pedestrian bridges soaring 80 feet over the active airfield” as enabling the Headhouse to open all at once, instead of in phases. Spearhead contributed to the successful opening of the Headhouse in two substantial ways. Spearhead delivered a complex installation of the pedestrian bridge and supported demanding, stressed-out Skanska executives while we hemorrhaged funds to foot ballooning job costs, created by others.
The article further highlights Spearhead as an MWBE/SDVOB company and Skanska’s commitment to MWBEs with subcontracts worth $684 million.
The mention of MWBE participation is interesting given that,
• This MWBE company completed its work 8 months ago.
