SECTION 01 40 00 QUALITY REQUIREMENTS

PART I - GENERAL

1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS:

A. The following documents apply to all required work for the Project: (1) the Contract Drawings, (2) the Specifications, (3) the General Conditions, (4) the Addendum, and (5) the Contract [City of New York Standard Construction Contract].

1.2 SUMMARY: A.

This Section includes the following: a. Definitions b. Conflicting Requirements c. Quality Assurance d. Quality Control e. Approval of Materials f. Special Inspections (Controlled Inspection) g. Inspections by Other City Agencies h. Certificates of Approval i. Acceptance Tests j. Repair and Protection

B. This Section includes administrative and procedural requirements for quality control to assure compliance with quality requirements specified in the Contract Documents. C. Testing and inspecting services are required to verify compliance with requirements specified or indicated. These services do not relieve Contractor of responsibility for compliance with the Contract Document requirements. D. Specified tests, inspections, and related actions do not limit Contractor's other quality-assurance and - control procedures that facilitate compliance with the Contract Document requirements. E. Provisions of this Section do not limit requirements for the Contractor to provide quality-assurance and - control services required by the Commissioner or authorities having jurisdiction. F. Specific test and inspection requirements are specified in the individual sections of the Specifications. G. LEED: Refer to the Addendum to identify whether this project is designed to comply with a Certification Level according to the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System, as specified in Section 01 81 13, "SUSTAINABLE DESIGN REQUIREMENTS FOR LEED BUILDINGS." H. COMMISSIONING: Refer to the Addendum to identify whether this project will be Commissioned by an independent third party under separate contract with the City of New York. Commissioning shall be in accordance with ASHRAE and USGBC LEED-NC procedures, as described in Section 01 91 13, GENERAL COMMISSIONING REQUIREMENTS. The Contractor shall cooperate with the commissioning agent and provide whatever assistance is required.
