REA Final - 22 Dec 20 - eBook - 1682 pages

Sean – for clarity, the control joint at the top between the GFRG capital and the gypsum trusses must be visible. HOK is concerned if the joint is spackled over there may be cracking at the finished surface spanning the joints. A ¼” soft joint using paintable sealant is acceptable. Please direct field. Thank you. This detail keeps an exposed V-joint where the edges get taped and spackled. The entire control joint and adjacent surfaces get painted. The top control joints must be provided at all capitals. Please move forward with the upper control joint. Let us know if any comments. Zack Trause Project Engineer

Subject: Re: RFI - Control Joints [External Email] Ok.  We're at that point.

The top joint is going to be taped and spackled, correct?  So the only joint that will be visible with caulk will be the bottom GRC Base to gypsum shaft enclosure?  We can slightly bevel the edge of the board at the top, backseal it with caulk to account for movement, and then tape and spackle the top.  Will look monolithic, but also allow for movement.   Is this correct?   Sean Reed Project Manager Spearhead Construction, LLC MBE | WBE | SDVOB | SDVOSB | PANYNJ | NYCSBS Sean @ SpearheadCx.com Ph: 631.793.7422
