Frank, We would not want to move forward with this request if Spearhead would have to foot a 10 - 15k bill. I do not clearly understand what HOK would be doing for that price. We were informed that the product data was reviewed already, they just needed a substitution form. The roof deck clip that is shown on the drawings from Cord (Rider E attached) was not required to be Engineered as part of their submission. In addition, the roof deck clip shown on the drawings is the exact same thing as what we are proposing - the ceiling is being hung from the deck. The Simpson Strong Tie piece we are proposing comes as one Engineered unit, the roof deck clip on these drawings made up of a number of different components and not backed by Hilti (I confirmed this with our rep). The Blue Banger hanger we are proposing is documented as being rated for 300 lbs/s.f. for 20 ga deck, over 5 times our needs. If the Engineering is still required for our system, then we would have our Engineer put together a calculation for a fraction of the cost. Please take a look at this carefully, we have been asked by SWJV to provide 'solutions' to help speed up the schedule. This is our solution to help, this shouldn't be at our cost. The waterproof roof membrane (first ply) is scheduled to go down within the next few days, I cannot see your Engineer/ Architect even looking at this before it's too late.
