The distance between the gusset and the exterior face of the studs will vary depending on the W's (truss columns) on every truss. Most of them are W14s, with gusset plates of 2 1/2" thick (based on the drawings I have) which makes a total of about 19". The total width of the enclosure finish to finish is 32" which is the dimension we should keep. If we deduct the 5/8" of the GFRG panels on each side, we will end up with about 5" between the gusset plate and the exterior face of the stud. However if you look at my detail I provided space for shims between the stud and GFRG panel which give some room to adjust and coordinate minimum differences between soffit & column enclosures. some of the W truss/columns toward the center of the bridge are even 24" wide, leaving space probably for just a furring channel against the gusset. I think more than the distance between the structural elements and the studs, we should follow the 32" width finish to finish. and determine the dimensions of studs of furring channels from there. Let me know your thoughts about it.
