RE: LaGuardia Airport Central Terminal Building Replacement Project (the “ Project ”); Subcontract No. 620-027 (the “ Subcontract ”) between Skanska/Walsh Joint Venture (“ SWJV ”) and Spearhead Construction LLC (“ Spearhead ); Spearhead – Moving Walkway Emergency Stop Button Damaged by Spearhead personnel

Ms. Hidalgo:

As a follow up to Skanska Walsh email provided to Spearhead on Saturday, February 15, 2020, that Spearhead personnel was operating a spider lift on the north side of the western moving walkway, therefore striking/hitting into the stop button breaking beyond repair. Although the damage was minor, the long lead time to replace the part(s) is the concern. Although we consider the action of the Spearhead employee (operator), a near miss, the damage to the moving walkway could have been more severe, with less than inch away from the moving walkway’s glass & handrail. SWJV has requested Kone to purchase and replace the damaged components. Once Kone provide replacement cost, SWJV will forward the cost and credit Spearheads account accordingly. It is recommended that Spearhead employee be retrained on the spider lift.

Sincerely,

Frank Corallo Sr. Project Manager
